Just wanted to give you a bit of quick feedback that our new countertops are in, and we LOVE THEM! The color & patterning is great, and we look forward to the other steps of our renovation and seeing how everything ties together in the end. It’s hard to know exactly how something like this Allspice pattern will look in a full sheet compared to the small samples, but there’s not nearly as much dark charcoal coloring as Jenny had feared, and so it’s not a “dark” look at all, so we’re thrilled with how it looks in a large sheet with the rich browns and graining.
It only took about 90 minutes start-finish for them to get them installed, so that went really smooth as well. Thanks again for all your help!

My husband and I built out home several years ago. Steve Welch was hands-down my favorite part of the process. He is extremely talented in his designs, detail-oriented, reliable and FUN to work with. When he came to us with the design from out kitchen, we didn’t make one change. Steve pays great attention to detail and had included things that my husband and I hadn’t even thought of. After being in the home several years I can honestly say I wouldn’t change one thing about our kitchen. I also appreciate the fact that Steve is super reliable. I could always trust that he would get back to me when I contacted him with questions. On top of it all, Steve has such a fun personality and my husband and I truly enjoyed working with him. It was an easy decision to call Steve when it came time to finish off our basement. I just wanted you to know how much I love my new kitchen and wanted to thank you for all your help. From the hardwood flooring to the Dynasty cabinets and the beautiful Cambria Quartz countertop, I don’t think that there’s a better looking kitchen around. Your input on colors and styles made the final product “mine”. Also, how and where the cabinets and drawers are located throughout the kitchen has made it much more efficient and functional than what I had before. I’ve been using Cantebury Kitchens for about nine years now and I’ve been very impressed with the quality of the products and services I’ve received. My designer, Steve, is very easy to deal with, while being creative and detail oriented. I’m confident when I send my clients in to pick out their kitchen that they will have a positive experience and their every need will be met.
We chose Cantebury Kitchens for our new home specifically for Lyptus cabinetry available through Showplace. I met and began to work with Steve Welch. I found him easy to work with and very supportive to get the exact kitchen and bathrooms I visualized. He was very patient and met with me several times to get every detail just right. To do that, he visited our building site, drew to scale, and jumped in to suggest making changes to room dimensions. He also redesigned our Jack-n-Jill bathroom to make the space more useable. When I could not make a decision, I consulted Shelley and other employees for their opinions and everyone would contribute. Steve was always aware of the time line and had everything ordered, in, and available right on schedule! During the 2008 Iowa City Parade of Homes everyone raved about the kitchen; the perfect heart of the home with superb function and great use of space. When we build again I will definitely continue to business with Cantebury Kitchens.

I have lived in my home for 41 years and my kitchen needed an upgrade. I went to three different companies to look for kitchen cupboards. A friend of mine recommended Shelley Shea at Cantebury Kitchens. This was my last place to go to. When I explained what I wanted, she said she would come to my home and bring their plumber, carpenter and floor group all at the same time to see what could be done. She had wonderful ideas and was saying, “have you thought of doing this”…The carpenter, Lucas, of Williams Construction, said, “Your kitchen is kind of dark on this side, would you like lights under the cupboards, and perhaps a ceiling light on this side?”
I didn’t go back to the other companies because I felt that these people wanted me to be happy and enjoy the new improvements, and Shelley was willing to coordinate everything as I don’t have the time or energy to do it. The cupboards are a beautiful oak to match my china cupboard. Lucas put in the cupboards and replaced my kitchen trim and pantry doors to match the cupboards. He did such a good job that I had him replace my three exterior doors. Lucas installed an island that matches my cupboards and counter top that is movable and contacted the electrician that installed all my new lights.
Shelley coordinated the people that installed my new floor tile in the kitchen, bathroom and both entrances, and for the backsplash behind the sink, the countertop people that installed my countertop, and the plumber who installed the sink and two new toilets.
It was so nice to set back and know that everything was being taken care of the way I wanted it done. If anyone would like to talk to me or see my kitchen and the wonderful workmanship that was done, contact Shelley and I will be happy to have you come and see it for yourself!
